vinoigan

vinoigan is a kadazan word for steamed glutinous rice with santan or the bottom layer of kuih seri muka. I love seri muka but i always discard the greenish top layer because i find it too sweet!

my mom made the best vinoigan. i never made dis but i have a feeling i will make it soon.wink

ingredients
500gm glutinous rice (soaked for 3-4 hours)
400ml diluted coconut milk
2 tsp salt
2 pandan leaves, knotted
method
prepare steamer, make sure water is boiling
wash glutinous rice, drain well and set aside
put all ingredients into a steaming tray (loyang)
steam for 20 - 30 mins
discard pandan leaves
fluff up rice
press the top with banana leaf for a smooth and even surface
